The new pedestrian bridge in the district La Défense in Paris is to create a connection between the large square around the “Grande Arche” with the planned high-rise “le Granite” in the district Nanterre. The approx. 90 m long, bent steel structure passes nearly parallel by the glass façade of the “Societé Générale”. The bridge is supported by only 2 bearing points on each end. The daring structure is stabilized via diagonal tension rods on the outer face of the bridge, as well as three pre-tensioned ring cables running underneath the bridge, eccentric to the superstructure. An inclined glass screen along the outer edge of the bridge protects pedestrians from wind and creates spatial effect.
