The New Foshan Stadium was built for the 12th Guangdong Province Sports Meeting in 2006. It is used as a track and field stadium and for football games.
With the ideal form of a big circle, as a representation of nature, it fits harmonically to all surrounding elements of urban development and landscape. The roof structure for the new sport facility is proposed as steel-cable structure based on the principle of the spoked wheel and it is covered by a membrane structure. It is currently the largest projected membrane roof. Nearby the new Swimming Pool is situated. The building is embedded in the landscape and covered by a folded membrane structure supported by steel arches.
Membrane roof: 71,000 m²
Seats: 36,000
