The TRUTEC Building Korea is situated in the new and modern “Digital Media City” district in Seoul. Kaleidoscopical, mirrored facade elements endow the facade with a unique sculptural, relief-like appearance. It presents a continuously changing spectacle throughout the day with its changing reflections due to varying weather conditions and levels of light. The structural system consists of composite beams (length 16.2 m) and steel columns on the upper floors, an eccentric core and a reinforced concrete structure in the floors below grade. Due to very high earth pressures and (statically unfavorable) arrangement of “split levels” in the floors below grade, a space frame structural system of shear walls and ceiling plates is created to provide the necessary rigidity.
