This 6-lane bridge crosses a rather flat valley with a little river, a quite usual situation. However sliding subsoil conditions made the founding of piers on one side of the valley difficult and costly. Therefore we proposed a ca. 260 m side span combining a cable-staying from above and propping from below, winning with that first prize in a competition. This combination halves the pylon height of a standard cable-stayed bridge, without increasing the cable forces. The low pylon and the overall lightness of this large bridge blend well with its pre-alps surroundings.
Total length: 770 m
Span: 255 m
Height of pylons: 55 m above deck
Locked coil ropes: 126 mm diameter
