The city of Weil am Rhein is situated 16 meters above the plane River valley, marked by a step slope including a railway at half height and a highway in the base. To overcome these 16 m vertically, a filigree suspended tower with two 70 m long winding stairs, one up the other down, is provided, with an additional level on top as a viewing platform. This tower connects with a simple, partly underpinned foot-bridge to the town.
