Stadium Al Bayt in Al Khor is one of the twelve venues of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Currently about half of the construction work is done. The reusable upper tier is mostly finished and the assembly of the primary support of the roof is just getting started. The finished roof with its black and beige stripe-design and appearance, will remind of traditional Bedouin tents called Bayt Al Sha´ar. They stand as a symbol for the hospitality of the country and its residents.

The 177,000 m² large roof and façade membrane serves as protection of the extreme weather conditions and includes an inner roof which can be closed within 20 minutes. The auditorium for 62.000 fans is further characterized by a vibrant red sadu-pattern with its typical geometrical forms. The two lower tiers which can seat 32.000 viewers consist of concrete prefabricated elements and will remain after the world cup for the local soccer club.

The upper tier on the other hand will be a steel construction including concrete prefabricated slabs. After the championship the seats of this part will be sent to other countries for a secondary use. This sustainable concept already received the 3-Star GSAS (Global Sustainability Assessment System).
