Some days ago, we got some impressive pictures about the construction update of the Signature Bridge over the Yamuna River in New-Delhi, Wazirabad. The steel construction of the bridge deck is completed, currently the last prefabricated components are being installed and supplemented by cast -in-place segments.
The pylon structure which will have a final height of 165 m is about 110 m high now and already shows the shape of the characteristic boomerang which top will be illuminated by night. The pylon features a slender peacock feather on its surface, which already can be recognized behind the red scaffold.
The cable assembly is currently in full progress: After having successfully installed the first backstays cables containing 128 strands each, the assembly of additional cables is following closely. Those cables are supporting the pylon as well as the inclined pylon legs, which are joined together halfway. Therefore, the auxiliary temporary bracing structure will soon be removed.
On one side of the pylon the first of four backstays cables are already installed whereas on the main span of the bridge five cables are already aligned to the pylon on each side of the bridge deck.
After completion, the bridge will feature a total length 675 m and a main span of 251 m. Four driving lanes are planned to cover the bridge width of 35 m. Please find additional information here: Link
