Another extraordinary pedestrian bridge is nearly completed. The last steel construction segment of the footbridge over the Sarawak River in Kuching (Malaysia) was lifted several weeks ago.

The S-shaped cable-stayed bridge with two inclined masts and a steel tube section has a main span of 133 meters and a total length of 330 meters. Several resting areas invite pedestrians to enjoy a spectacular panoramic view over the river and the city.

schlaich bergermann partner was responsible for carrying out dynamic vibration analyses caused by pedestrian traffic as well as checking the dimensions of the main components and calculating the different construction stages. Additionally, within the scope of the technical spots check during the installation of the fully locked cables, several construction site visits were necessary.
