Last Saturday the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Visitor and Information Centre at Ruhestein summit in the black forest took place.
“The new visitor center in the national park will be a milestone for environmental education”, said prime Minister Kretschmann during the ceremony.
Inspired by trunk of trees the design is based on long timber boxes stacked above each other, covered with cross laminated timber panels allowing design flexibility and low environmental impact. A wooden lookout tower connected to a skywalk will provide a panoramic view on the surrounding landscape.
Completed in 2020, the impressive architecture and the exciting conceptual design of the centre is supposed to attract visitors from all over the world.
