With the opening of the Olympic Velodrome in London last week, it marks the first sports facility to be completed for the Summer Olympic Games in 2012.
On one of the fastest cycling tracks in the world, competitions will take place in front of up to 6,000 spectators – all under one roof, that already attracts ones attention from afar. For this purpose, we developed a lightweight double-curved cable net roof structure. Supported by the seating bowl, the roof structure is made up of wooden panels, glass skylights and an aluminum skin. Once again in terms of construction cost and assembly time a cable net structure was superior to other types of construction.
