On 9 May, the 4th Extension of the German National Library was officially opened in Leipzig. The concept of the new building by the architect Gabriele Glöckler, for which schlaich bergermann und partner together with Erfurth + Mathes was responsible for the structural design, is derived from its function as a book repository: similar to a book, the draft is divided into envelope, cover and content. The fact that the German Music Archive is a part of the German National Library, is evident in the red facade elements, which repeat the Fourth Goldberg Variations by Bach. More information and photos in the newly published book Umschlag – Hülle – Inhalt.
