The stress ribbon bridge, entwined by a dynamic spiral, was opened on the 25th of June in the presence of the artist Tobias Rehberger and the responsible engineers of schlaich bergermann partner. The bridge serves to connect the Oberhausen Castle, the “Kaisergarten” and Emscher Island in the Rhine-Herne-Channel. This work of art also has a unique effect in the dark: the lighting concept, developed by our office, includes continuously integrated LED-lighting along the railing as well as custom-tuned LED spotlights at the lowest point of the spiral arcs that highlight the 16 colors of the walking surface even at night.
