The solarthermal power plant AndaSol I has a rated output of 50 MW and can be operated on thermal storage for 6 hours during periods without sunshine. After the 2 year construction period the plant will produce approx.179 GWh per year and provide electricity for up to 200.000 people. The collector field of the plant covers a surface of 1500 by 1300 meters. The 7488 individual collectors in the new cost-optimized design have together a collector surface of 510.000 m ². The collectors consist of a steel framework construction with attached curved glass mirrors.
