Structural Engineer – Refurbishment

As a Structural Engineer in the field of refurbishment, you will contribute to the sustainable use and modernization of existing structures, playing a key role in resource conservation, climate protection, and the preservation of cultural heritage. In this responsible role, you will oversee all design phases – from building analysis and design to construction execution – working closely with an interdisciplinary team to develop innovative and future-proof solutions.

 

Your Tasks

  • Independently analyze and evaluate existing buildings to identify potential for optimization and renovation
  • Work across multiple materials (including reinforced concrete, masonry, steel, timber, …)
  • Develop customized structural solutions for renovation, expansion, and repurposing projects, considering technical, economic, and sustainability aspects
  • Develop alternative solutions by integrating expertise from other disciplines such as building physics, fire protection, special formations, etc.
  • Oversee and manage building projects across all phases of execution
  • Guide and coordinate designers and engineers in developing and implementing innovative structural solutions
  • Ensure clear and efficient communication between clients, planners, and contractors

 

Your Profile

  • Completed degree in Civil Engineering or a comparable qualification
  • Several years of experience in structural design for building projects
  • Passion for analyzing and investigating existing structures, including history of building codes
  • Expertise in structural engineering and refurbishment of existing structures, combined with several years of hands-on experience in preservation and structural assessments (knowledge of heritage conservation is a plus)
  • Proficiency in structural analysis and damage documentation software (e.g., Sofistik) as well as MS Office
  • A high degree of responsibility and an independent, structured approach to work
