On January 21, 2025, Mike Schlaich, Board Member of schlaich bergermann partner, will present his book “Bauen in Afrika” at the ABK Stuttgart.
In the book, he shares insights from his 2022 research trip, during which he spent 150 days traveling from Cape Town to Cairo to explore Africa’s building culture.
During his journey, Mike Schlaich visited numerous universities, gave lectures, and participated in in-depth discussions with local experts. His book documents his experiences in a diary format and offers reflections on the future development of infrastructure in Africa. Additionally, it features informative graphics on infrastructure, population growth of the continent, and other pertinent topics.
Following the lecture, there will be a panel discussion featuring Prof. Dr. Stephan Engelsmann, Professor of Structural Design and Engineering, Asst. Prof. Dr. Zegeye Cherenet, Addis Abeba University, and Prof. Fabienne Hoelzel, Professor of Design and Urban Planning at ABK Stuttgart
