Decision on daycare center with climate envelope
sbp 18.12.2020

We are pleased to share the news that the construction of the climate envelope for a new daycare center made of infra-lightweight concrete in Brandenburg, Germany, was approved by a large majority of the Blankenfelde-Mahlow municipal council in the end of November. The overall concept for the architecture, supporting structure, rational use of energy and noise protection was developed and optimized by our team in close cooperation with stakeholders of Blankenfelde-Mahlow in a project funded by the Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt (German Federal Foundation for the Environment) over several years.

The climatic envelope functions as a sensitive organism that is adapted to the respective parts of the building. It consists of an integrative structural, energy and noise protection concept.

The diverse requirements for the interior climate – especially for thermal comfort and sound insulation – require precise coordination of the individual components and trades with each other.
