Festive inauguration of the Heppinger Bridge

On Monday, October 27, 2025, the new Heppinger Bridge across the Ahr was officially inaugurated – a significant milestone in the reconstruction of Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler after the flood disaster in 2021.

At 60 meters long, the new bridge is the first completely rebuilt road bridge over the Ahr River. Designed to span the river without intermediate supports, it maximizes the free flow cross-section beneath the bridge – a key contribution to future flood protection.

The supporting structure consists of a roadway slab made of semi-precast elements and in-situ concrete, supported by an underlying arch made of weather-resistant Corten steel, which is currently developing its characteristic patina.

Some remaining work, such as the completion of the cycle paths and green spaces around the bridge is still pending.

The reconstruction of the Heppinger Bridge represents a a vital step in restoring infrastructure in one of the most severely affected regions of the Ahr Valley. It is one of several bridges that we are contributing to the reconstruction of the region. In addition to the Heppinger Bridge, the Kurgarten Bridge and Casino Bridge, Maria-Hilf Bridge, Obertor Bridge and cycle bridge Otlerstraße will also be built soon. We are proud to be contributing to the reconstruction of Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler.

We would like to thank everyone involved for their commitment and are delighted about this important step towards the future!
