The 6th International Footbridge Conference will be held from September 6th to 8th 2017 in Berlin by chairs Mike Schlaich, Laurent Ney and José Romo. The event is organized by the Technical University Berlin with a focus on structural dynamics and innovation.
Movie director Robert Schwentke will open the event with a keynote lecture and various other guest speakers such as Philippe Block (ETH Zurich), James Brownjohn (University of Exeter), Keith Brownlie (Brownlie Ernst and Marks), Dietmar Feichtinger (Dietmar Feichtinger Architects), Jan Knippers (Knippers Helbig Advanced Engineering), Marc Mimram (Marc Mimram Architecture & Associes) and Jiri Strasky (Brno University of Technology, Strasky, Husty and Partners) will give insights into their work. The conference will be supplemented by the presentation of footbridge designs for six preselected locations in Berlin, which will be published in a book later.
The Footbridge Award, for which the Weinbergbridge in Rathenow is nominated, will also form another highlight of the event.
Finally, Wolfgang Volz, known through his photographs for the artist couple Christo and Jeanne-Claude, will talk about his past work „The Floating Piers”.
We are looking forward to three exciting days in Berlin.
