The Saint-Denis Aquatics Centre built for the 2024 Olympics and Paralympic Games in Paris, was inaugurated by Emmanuel Macron on Thursday, April 4, 2024.
The iconic sports venue for Paris 2024 features innovative engineering and advanced structural solutions, including a timber roof with a span of 89 m and a wide pedestrian bridge of more than 100 m in length and 18 m in width connecting to the arena. Located across from the Stade de France, the Aquatics Centre is equipped with a 50-meter pool and a diving pool. During the Olympic Games, it can accommodate 6,000 spectators and is used for water polo, synchronized swimming, diving and, during the Paralympics, boccia. After a competition lasting more than a year, Solidéo and the Metropole du Grand Paris commissioned the consortium led by Bouygues with Dalkia and Récréa for operations, the architects VenhoevenCS and Atelier 2/3/4 and schlaich bergermann partner for the structural and facade engineering to plan and execute this prestigious project.
After the 2024 Paris Games, the CAO will be converted and enter its heritage phase in June 2025. From then on, it will be a leisure and swimming center accessible to all.
