In early May, Schwäbisch Hall marked a major milestone in its urban development: the ribbon was symbolically cut on the new Lindach Bridge. This modern structure now provides a direct and barrier-free connection for pedestrians and cyclists between Unterwöhrd Island and the train station or riverside promenade. The connection between Unterwöhrdinsel and the local theater, the “Neues Globe”, is also an important aspect in the urban development of Schwäbisch Hall’s city center.
The opening took place as part of the nationwide Day of Urban Development Promotion – an ideal moment to also celebrate the completion of the city center redevelopment project.
Lord Mayor Daniel Bullinger welcomed numerous guests to the official inauguration. Together with City Councillor Hermann-Josef Pelgrim, First Deputy Mayor Peter Klink, Head of Civil Engineering Philipp Hansjörg Herrmann, Mario Bortolazzi (Awus Bau), and Thomas Fackler (sbp), the bridge was ceremonially opened to the public.
The Lindach Bridge was planned and realized by schlaich bergermann partner (sbp) in collaboration with the City of Schwäbisch Hall. The striking structure impresses with its refined construction and contemporary design language, blending naturally into its surroundings. Featuring a filigree railing, two glulam beams, and a fan-shaped steel support, the bridge is not only a vital new connection – it also makes a bold architectural statement.
