Preparations for the opening of the Olympic Games in Paris are drawing ever closer. The pedestrian and bicycle bridge linking two main venues of the Games, the Stade de France and the Olympic Aquatics Centre, has now been opened to the public.
With a length of 104 m and a width of 20 m, this structure is designed to fit in the urban spaces it connects and to accommodate the flow of visitors to the sports facilities. Its five-meter high main girders protect pedestrians and cyclists from the traffic noise of the road below while guiding them to the newly landscaped areas of the Stade de France.
This project is a joint effort between sbp, A234, BYTP together with Eiffage Métal. In the heritage phase after the Olympic Games, this bridge will create a genuine public space and continue to ensure a safe crossing between the two sports venues across the highway below.
