After more than fifteen intense months of work, schlaich bergermann partner is proud to share the news that we are part of the winning team in the competition for the Olympic Aquatic Centre (CAO) for the Paris 2024 Olympics. The multifunctional venue is the only major new building for the Summer Games. It will host the competitions in water polo, diving, and synchronized swimming, as well as boccia during the subsequent Paralympics. The CAO will be built in close proximity to the Stade de France, the largest stadium in France.

The project, designed with the architects VenhoevenCS and Atelier 2/3/4, was selected among six proposals and will be built by Bouygues. schlaich bergermann partner will be in charge of the facades and the whole structure of the swimming pool, including the 89 m long timber catenary roof as well as the 18 m wide footbridge, connecting the building to the Stade de France. On top of the roof, there will be a 5,000 m² photovoltaic system.

We are honored to be part of this great team, including Bouygues, Recrea, Dalkia, Atelier 2/3/4, VenhoevenCS, Inex and Inddigo, and look forward to the joint planning of this elaborate timber structure.
