sbp sonne at the AgriVoltaics World Conference 2025 in Freiburg

At this year’s AgriVoltaics World Conference, taking place from July 1-3 in Freiburg, sbp sonne will contribute two research-based perspectives on the integration of photovoltaic systems in agricultural settings. Our colleagues Rafael Martinez and Christian Weinmann will present two innovative approaches that explore how solar energy and farming can be effectively combined.

DeepBluSky

Rafael Martinez will introduce DeepBluSky , sbp sonne’s in-house simulation tool designed to model the complex interplay of light, heat, and airflow under AgriVoltaic (APV) systems. It helps optimize both electrical output and agricultural yield, while also considering water use and climate variability — supporting data-driven design and management of APV installations. The collaboration with Uni Hohenheim enables the modelling of PV and plantsoil interactions.

VitiCult

Christian Weinmann will share insights from VitiCult, an innovative research project that explores mobile PV structures designed to protect young grapevines from heat stress. The lightweight and movable system offers flexibility for vineyards and helps to increase resilience to climate extremes.

Both projects reflect sbp sonne’s commitment to advancing integrated, future-ready AgriVoltaic solutions that balance renewable energy production with agricultural productivity.

The AgriVoltaics World Conference serves as a global platform for researchers, industry experts and, practitioners to explore how solar technology and farming can not only coexist but mutually benefit one another. We are pleased to contribute to this important dialogue and share our latest findings.
