We are pleased to announce that the new Aller Bridge along the line Wunstorf-Bremerhaven is now fully operational. The project was delivered on time and within budget to the delight of our client, the Deutsche Bahn.
The dual track DB railroad line runs through picturesque countryside, so the continuous, slender design, required a subtle and pleasing appearance to blend itself with the surroundings. The choice of materials was appropriate for the moment-diagram formed webs which are connected on both sides with the orthotropic steel deck. The web stiffeners are arranged in a fan-shape structure to follow the flow of forces around the main span.
The height of the outer steel girders remains constant and the web stiffeners are arranged purely vertically to create a harmonious alignment with the approaching ramps. The bridge’s superstructure is supported by bearings on the slender pier walls and abutments, with the fixed point in the longitudinal axis located on the Northern pier. The construction is assembled with an incremental launching method of eight sections.
