The CAMERICH (Jiaxing) Mega Factory is located in Nanhu District, Jiaxing City, Zhejiang Province. Positioned at the northwest corner of the campus, the water tower plays a critical role in the site’s fire protection infrastructure by supplying pressurized water to the sprinkler system. As the tallest structure on the campus, the tower—with its integrated observation platform—has become a striking landmark in the surrounding landscape.
Inspired by the poetic line “a cloud is a lake in the sky,” the water tank adopts a cloud-like form composed of convex curves with varying radii. This visually distinctive geometry not only defines the architectural character of the tower but also enhances the structural stability of the tank under water and wind loads.
The tank consists of a steel base frame, a 4 mm thick bottom plate, an internal box frame, and corrugated steel panels forming the facade and roof. A cloud-shaped curtain wall encloses both the water tank and the internal supporting elements. The self-weight and lateral loads of the facade are transferred via bolted brackets to the upper inner and outer edge girders of the tank.
The primary structure of the tower includes a cantilevered deck, twelve inclined steel columns, and thirty cross-braces. The columns are arranged in an A-frame configuration, with water inlet and outlet pipes discreetly integrated between them. The layout and geometry of the columns and bracing elements were carefully engineered to achieve both structural clarity and an expressive architectural presence.
