The Campus Pool is the new school and club pool in Ludwigsburg and includes a competition-standard 6-lane, 25-meter swimmers’ pool and a teaching pool.
The roof structure consists of 18 steel girders, each spanning 24 meters. The load-bearing and stiffening roof panel was constructed using 60-mm-thick cross-laminated timber elements, which span transversely to the steel truss girders as continuous girders and are supported on the upper chords of the truss girders.
The bracing center wall between the bathing hall and the changing area was designed as a wall slab made of exposed concrete. Wide-span wall-like beams were constructed above the large wall openings in the entrance and niche areas, so that no
additional supports were required. The changing and showering area behind the bathing hall was constructed as a reinforced concrete solid construction and serves as a bracing element for the steel roof construction.
The swimming pools were designed as reinforced concrete tubs in a waterproof construction and additionally sealed with a crack-bridging mineral sealing slurry.
The basement was designed as a rigid reinforced concrete waterproof box. To avoid a deep foundation, the very settlement-sensitive subsoil was pre-compacted and a soil exchange with a 50 cm thick gravel base layer was carried out.
