The Fellbach F3 family and leisure pool was built at the foot of the Kappelberg, in the middle of vineyards. With its family pool, outdoor pool and sauna areas, it is one of the largest and most well-known leisure facilities in the greater Stuttgart area.
The folded roofs over the bathing hall consist of a selectively supported steel girder grid made of rolled profiles. The load-bearing roof shell was made of 40 mm thick three-layer timber panels. The roof edges cantilevered over the facades were realized with steel cantilever beams, which are arranged above the roof sealing in the insulation layer. The steel girder grid is supported on the massive slide tower and on slender steel tube support bundles. At the sloping south façade, the roof grid is led downwards and designed as a rigid frame corner. The sauna area and the changing and shower area were constructed as solid reinforced concrete structures. The swimming pools are designed as reinforced concrete tubs in a waterproof construction and are additionally sealed with a crack-bridging mineral sealing slurry. The indoor pools were separated from the pool plate with console supports to minimize the constraint stresses on the waterproof components. The outdoor pools were founded on concrete columns in the load-bearing ground, so that the structural settlements could be minimized. The basement floors of the bathing hall were designed as rigid reinforced concrete boxes. The basement ceiling was supported by slender reinforced concrete columns, so that the technical area was only slightly restricted.
