The wide pedestrian overpass crosses the highway A1 creating a safe and easy link from the public spaces around Stade de France with the Aquatic Centre and the heart of the future eco neighbourhood of La Plaine Saulnier.
The structural limitations due to the highway running underneath led to a structural solution in the form of a two-span bridge with different spans, which blends in perfectly with the public space. The five-meter-high lateral main girders of the bridge which rise up at the sides, protect pedestrians and cyclists above the road from traffic noise and guide them to the newly designed and landscaped areas on both sides. The beams are designed to follow the curvature of the bending moments.
As part of the post-use concept for the Olympic Games, the bridge will be redesigned as a public square that continues to provide a safe passage between the two sports venues.
