The new swimming pool is located on the outskirts of Stutensee, in southern Germany, between the school and sports center and the new fairground. Architecturally, the indoor swimming pool is divided into two volumes, which are clearly visible from the outside. The spacious bathing hall includes a swimmers’ pool, a learners’ pool with a slide, and an area for small children.
The basement and ground floor are made of reinforced concrete, while the supporting structure for the wide-span bathing hall and the changing area was built in timber. The suspended, acoustically effective lamella ceilings and wall cladding are also made of timber.
The swimming pools were designed as point- and line-supported reinforced concrete slabs and sealed against water pressure from the inside. The foundation on the native gravel sand is an elastically bedded base plate in a waterproof construction as a “white tank”. Since no excavation with open drainage was possible in the deeper part of the excavation pit, this area was enclosed with a fixed sheet pile wall and a waterproof underwater concrete floor was constructed.
The high degree of prefabrication of the timber elements ensured cost-effective construction and a shorter construction time.
