As part of the refurbishment of the VitaSol Thermal Baths in Bad Salzuflen, a new pool complex and wellness area were built in bathing hall 1. In addition, the kitchen area and the restaurant were extended. A large proportion of the refurbishment work was carried out on the load-bearing reinforced concrete components, which were severely damaged by high chloride levels.
The existing gallery and the pool walls of the 25 m pool were demolished and four new pools were installed. The gallery level was rebuilt with a new use and geometry. The new bearing loads were supported by additional columns and foundations in the basement. A new and acoustically effective suspended ceiling made of wooden slats was installed in the entire pool hall. Extensive support measures were required in the existing structure for the extension of the restaurant and kitchen.
