A new sports center with an indoor pool has been built in Oberkochen in the immediate vicinity of the Schwarzer Kocher river. It houses a swimming and sports hall as well as a spacious sauna and wellness area.
The basement floors of the sports center were constructed as a jointless reinforced concrete structure in waterproof construction. The foundations were laid using elastically bedded floor slabs. The existing subsoil in the area of the swimming pool and sports hall, which had a low load-bearing capacity, was improved over a large area using grouted full displacement columns. The roofs of the swimming pool and sports hall are designed as a lightweight steel and timber construction. This consists of glulam trusses, which are supported on circumferential steel edge beams and slender steel columns. The flat roof covering is made of cross-laminated timber panels which are connected to each other in a shear-resistant manner and also act as a stiffening roof slab.
