The new sports hall is designed as a clearly defined cubic structure, whose perceived volume is minimized through the clever use of the topography and an earth-covered changing and sanitary area, making it appropriately scaled for its location.
The simple and compact building emerges from the ground on the southern side like a bracket and culminates in a covered entrance area to the north.
The earth-retaining components on the lower level, such as the changing rooms and hall, are constructed in reinforced concrete. The lightweight roof structure is made of steel construction and supported by slender hollow steel columns. In the cantilevered entrance area, the roof is formed as a two-way spanning steel beam grid.
