The sports hall presents itself as a straight-lined and striking structure. The two building volumes of different heights are designed as dark grey plastered buildings and each has opposing monopitch roofs. A large, glazed foyer skilfully connects the hall and the associated functional area. It is also possible to divide the large hall into three smaller halls.
The floor slab of the sports hall was designed as an elastically bedded plate and founded on the Weißjura. The higher floor slabs of the foyer and the adjoining rooms were calculated as self-supporting reinforced concrete slabs and placed on individual and strip foundations. All load-bearing walls were constructed as reinforced concrete walls and clamped into the floor slabs to transfer the seismic loads (zone 3). The large openings in the gable walls were constructed with wide-span wall-like beams.
In the hall itself, a spectator stand for up to 200 seats adjoins the pitch. The seating steps were made of L-shaped reinforced concrete components. The roof over the adjoining wing was constructed with a trapezoidal sheet metal covering. The roof supporting structure over the hall consists of a asymmetric steel frame made of rolled profiles with hinged columns on the grandstand side.
