Student Service Center University of Cologne

©

With the Student Service Center, the University of Cologne offers students a central point of contact for all administrative services that were previously located in different buildings on campus.
The building structure is designed as a reinforced concrete cross-wall construction and consists of load-bearing wall panels and flat slabs, which are stacked on top of each other to form “cuboid” load-bearing structures. The walls of the cantilevered upper floors were designed as wall-like girders and executed with prestressed floor slabs (prestressing without bonding). The highly stressed slender columns were constructed as composite steel columns, with the introduction of the support loads from the wall panels being carried out via welded-on fin plates and head bolt dowels. The basements were designed as monolithic waterproof structures. The foundation was constructed using large-diameter bored piles.
