The National Convention and Exhibition Centre is located in Tianjin’s Jinnan district, close to Beijing. With a total area of around 1.4 million square meters, it is set to have China`s third-largest internationally significant exhibition grounds after Shanghai and Guangzhou. The project constitutes two phases. The first, completed and opened in August 2021, covers a total construction area of approximately 800,000 square meters, including 480,000 square meters of exhibition area and 320,000 square meters of integrated supporting area. The total construction area of phase two, completed at the end of 2023, is about 540,000 square meters. Tianjin National Convention and Exhibition Center comprises of 3 main structural parts: two entrance halls, 32 exhibition halls and two central concourses connecting the entrance halls to the exhibition halls.
The entrance halls constitute the most representative part of the entire Exhibition and Convention Centre, featuring iconic tree shaped columns and lightweight glass canopies. The tree structure is connected to a continuous frame, forming a rigid overall structural system.
For the entire complex a common architectural and structural language was developed in order to achieve attractive, state-of-the-art buildings with an outstanding and unique character.
The structural system itself complies with the latest developments in the field of long span engineering and has been designed in line with the special requirements, applicable safety standards and size of the multifunctional venues. Last but not least, the application of these principles led to a relatively quick construction phase and high building quality.
