The design of the new exhibition center in Zhengzhou is defined by a distinctive roofscape with strikingly curved forms that appear both in the entrance hall and in the exhibition halls. The architecture emphasizes lightness, openness, and a clear organization of the expansive site.
The symmetrically arranged building complex is centered around a spacious, park-like landscape. At the forefront of the site stands the central entrance hall, which serves as a pivotal element connecting the exhibition halls to the north and south. While the northern forecourt links the halls on both sides, the southern halls are arranged on one side only and are connected via open colonnades facing the forecourt.
The entrance hall is designed as a long-span steel structure incorporating an inner bracing system that supports the sweeping main girders. The southern exhibition halls are spanned transversely by steel trusses, creating column-free spaces of up to 84 × 160 meters.
In the northern section, four additional exhibition halls line each side of the forecourt, mirroring the structural system of the southern halls. The two northernmost halls are designed as flexible multifunctional spaces that can accommodate a wide variety of events — from trade fairs to sporting and cultural events.
The project combines engineering precision with a bold architectural gesture, resulting in a contemporary and identity-defining exhibition venue that offers both high spatial quality and versatile usability.
