The dual carriageway Nesenbachtal Bridge as a part of the east by-pass of Stuttgart-Vaihingen is entirely 151 m long. The bridge crosses a nice valley and the roadway leads directly into tunnels on either side of the bridge. Steel arches spanning over the roadway carry both a footpath on the top and in addition noise barriers. The superstructure consists of a concrete slab supported by a steels truss. The slab connects with two tunnels without any expansion joint thus avoiding their noise emission when trucks pass. This is probably the only and first modern highway bridge without any bearing nor joint.
