A light and elaborate suspension bridge has been woven into the difficult industrial cityscape. The slender concrete slab is suspended by hangers from the main cable. Transverse beams carry the hanger cables, structure the bottom view and also serve to provide a continuous support for the slab. At the middle of the bridge the concrete slab is directly coupled with the suspension cable across the saddle. Towards the handicapped and bicycle appropriate ramps the slab spans between the transverse beams, which are supported in the middle on slender columns. The bilaterally arranged tripod for the anchorage of the suspension cables signals from afar the location of the bridge. It presents the necessary orientation for the traversing of the Neckar and “leads” the user of the bridge across the bent ramp to the bridge.
