Frank Schächner completed his studies in civil engineering with a specialization in structural engineering at the University of Karlsruhe in 2002. He then gained experience as an engineer in both Germany and the United Arab Emirates, where he eventually became self-employed. Since 2010, he has been part of the team at schlaich bergermann partner in Stuttgart, where he has contributed his extensive technical knowledge. He was appointed Director in 2021 and has held the position of Managing Director since 2023.
His focus is on bridge structures, where he has successfully completed numerous significant national and international projects in concrete, prestressed concrete, composite construction and steel. He has worked on innovative pedestrian and bicycle bridges, including the Darul Hana Bridge in Malaysia and the bicycle bridge in Esch-Belval, Luxembourg, as well as major railway bridges such as the Neckar Bridge in Bad Cannstatt and the Railway Bridge Grubental near Erfurt. His work has won numerous competitions. Among these are the bridge construction awards for the steel footbridge for TRUMPF in Ditzingen and the Bleichinsel Bridge in Heilbronn. In addition, the Road Bridge “Rotes Steigle” across the highway A8 near Stuttgart received an honorable mention at the German Engineering Award.
