Extension of the Gabriel Montpied Stadium in Clermont-Ferrand
Together with Atelier Ferret Architectures, the team of schlaich bergermann partner in Paris has won the competition for the extension of the Gabriel Montpied Stadium in Clermont-Ferrand, France. The football stadium, which currently has a capacity of 7,000 seats, is to be expanded in several stages to a total capacity of 30,000 seats.
As to that, the currently existing grandstand will be integrated into the new design, and it will be complemented by three further stands on the sides of the pitch. In this project, schlaich bergermann partner is responsible for the planning of both the roof and the facades. The new stands will have a continuous roof, consisting of a 45 m long steel cantilever structure and a roofing made of a glass fibre membrane. The facade will consist of a single-layer ETFE foil.
We are looking forward to be working together with Atelier Ferret Architectures on the enhancement of the existing Gabriel Montpied stadium in Clermont-Ferrand.
