It is with deep sadness that we announce Jörg Schlaich passed away peacefully on Saturday at the age of 86 in the circle of his loved ones after a long illness. Our thoughts and sympathy are with his family and friends.
Professor Jörg Schlaich founded our office in 1980 together with Rudolf Bergermann and led it until the end of 2002. For more than 15 years afterwards, he continued to be an important and highly valued source of ideas and advice to our staff. The joint trip to South Africa in 2009 and, most recently, the celebration in honor of his 80th birthday in 2014 with all colleagues in Berlin will remain very special memories of him. His life and work will continue to shape our work and remain part of our identity.
It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to an extraordinary and lovable person who was an inspiration, role model and friend to us.
