Inauguration of the L’Aldilonda footbridge in Bastia

With pride and satisfaction we announce the opening of the L’Aldilonda footbridge in Bastia on Corsica, built above the waves enabling the inhabitants of Bastia to reconnect with a part of their coastline. Together with the architects of Dietmar Feichtinger Architectes and Buzzo-Spinelli, schlaich bergermann partner designed the 450m long concrete path as well as supervised its construction. At its highest point, the path rises 5m above sea level and is firmly anchored to the rocks to withstand the enormous forces of the surf. The new L’Aldilonda path around the citadel of Bastia offers now resting places, public spaces and unique views over the picturesque city and the sea.
