Start of Construction on the Olympic Aquatic Center
schlaich bergermann partner is delighted to announce the start of construction work for the forthcoming Olympic Aquatic Center (CAO) and the pedestrian crossing that will link it to the Stade de France in the city of Saint-Denis, in the Île-de-France region. This key sports facility is being built by Bouygues Bâtiment Île-de-France, who formed the contractor group of which sbp is a proud member.
The multifunctional venue is the only major sports facility that is newly being erected for the Olympic Summer Games 2024. It will host the competitions of water polo, diving, and synchronized swimming, and will later be transformed into a boccia stadium for the Paralympic Games.
The deep foundations will be realized this summer and mark the start of the structural work. One year later, the crossing will be put in place over the A1. Completion of the CAO is planned for April 2024, when the Aquatic Center and its crossing will be handed over to Paris 2024.
