Two lighting design awards in a row

schlaich bergermann partner has recently won not one, but two lighting design awards for the project family of bridges for the town of Riedlingen – a great success for our very own lighting designer Christiane Sander.

On May 16th, she received a German Lighting Design Award 2019 at the historic townhall of Wuppertal. In the category “Outdoor Lighting / Staging”, the three bridges designed and illuminated by schlaich bergermann partner beat two other nominated projects. A total of eleven projects from practices in Germany, Austria and Switzerland were presented with awards at the ceremony.

Only one week later, the project was honored with yet another prestigious prize: In the United States, the lighting scheme for the ‘family of bridges’ was awarded by the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD) with the 2019 IALD Award of Excellence. Christine Sander attended the award ceremony at the Crystal Tea Room in Philadelphia and accepted the award.

We are delighted and honored to have won these two lighting design awards and congratulate the whole team involved with the project.
