Airport Leipzig/Halle, Parking Garage

©

This six-storey parking garage consists of five simple bridges each 65 m in length. The first bridge also has a cantilever of 22 m looking towards the existing Air Terminal (Total length: approx. 350 m). The structure is formed by two parts (side by side) of two independent steel-truss-girders, each with about 17 m height. They carry 6 decks of steel cross-girders with 16.5 m length acting as composite section with the concrete deck slab. The bridge supports are formed by concrete stair-cases of about 28 m height and two additional mid thirds per support axis. Two spiral structures with conical concrete shell roofs of 18 m diameter each (in the first and the fourth span) form the approach for vehicles. The chosen bridge-structure was necessary because of the existing road system in the airport area and a new railway-line (under construction) which crosses the parking building near the existing “Autobahn”, where the building ends.
