The Ulrich Finsterwalder Structural Engineering Award was awarded yesterday at Deutsches Museum in Munich. The footbridge TRUMPF Steg by schlaich bergermann partner received one of two commendations from the jury. The main award went to the engineers from EiSat in Berlin for their remarkable membrane shelter above the excavation site at Göbekli Tepe in Turkey.
Every two years, the renowned award honors outstanding achievements in engineering. This year’s decision from the jury of 13 was announced during a festive award ceremony, which also featured lectures on the five shortlisted projects.
When referring to TRUMPF Steg, the jury particularly praised the “blurring boundaries between function and art object”. We are pleased about this appreciation of our project, on which we worked together with Barkow Leibinger and Franz Prebeck.
On behalf of the entire team, we congratulate EiSat as well as KREBS+KIEFER engineers, who received the second jury commendation for the Kienlesberg Bridge.
