Ice Rink Roof Munich

Munich, Germany, 1983

With a roof for the existing ice skating field in the Olympiapark it should be made possible to use it throughout the year.
The pre-stressed cable net that is elliptical in its layout is suspended from an steel tube arch. The cable net for the ice-rink tent is of double-stranded cables and pressed-on clamps at intervals of 75 cm. The cable net bears a wooden lattice and is covered with a translucent membrane. This combination of different materials makes the inner hall appear light and large.
