The opera is situated on an exposed place on the headland of the Yangtse River viewing the business centre of the Chongqing City.
The fan-shaped glass sculpture is based on a stone platform. The interior parts of the building are made of reinforced concrete, while the roof and façade consisst of a glass-steel structure.
The opera comprises 2,000 seats and the integrated theatre 900 seats. An exhibition hall joins all the foyers together allowing parallel use of both halls.
