In Wangen im Allgäu in the southern part of germany, two pedestrian and cycle bridges are built over the river “Obere Argen”. Due to a regional garden exhibition in 2024, these bridges will provide access to the part of the site that lies on the southern bank of the Argen. The “Dornier Bridge” is located east of the Argen meadow and connects the Auwiesengarten to the southern area. The “Zeppelin Bridge” spans the renaturalized Argen to the west of the Argen meadow.
The chosen structural solution is a fixed single-span girder as a timber-concrete composite structure, which is monolithically connected to the abutments on both sides. Due to the close proximity to each other, an identical design was chosen for both bridges. The alignment of the riverbanks was carefully coordinated at each location to ensure a harmonious integration of the selected span and the embankment.
