Rainbow Bridge Haoxiang Lake Park

© 曾天培

The 13-hectare Haoxiang Lake Park is located in the Bao’an district of Shenzhen. The lake park, which is supplied by four rivers, was created by an urban renewal project. An 850-meter-long pedestrian and bicycle path, which has already become a popular jogging route, connects the four lakeside areas. This path also leads over the Rainbow Bridge. It consists of a 240-meter-long, curved hollow steel box structure with a maximum span of 77 meters. The design is complemented by a spacious viewing platform on the south side of the bridge, which provides a buffer to the industrial area located to the north.
The boundary conditions for the foundation were complex, especially on the western bank. The supports are placed with minimal impact on the natural area and thus, do not interfere with the footpaths below the bridge.
